From Hustle to Harmony: The Secret to Building a Business That Truly Supports Your Life
Learn how to define your 'enough,' set boundaries, and create a business that works with your life, not against it.
Let’s pause for a moment.
This year, I’ve been reflecting on what it really means to grow, not just in business, but in life. For so long, I thought success was about doing more, earning more, and achieving more. But somewhere along the way, I realised that kind of thinking wasn’t serving me or the life I wanted to build.
At Rose Relations, I’ve embraced a new mindset: creating a business that works with my life, not against it.
The Shift
A few years ago, I was focused on saying yes to everything - clients, extra hours, every opportunity that came my way. But freelance life isn’t always straightforward. There were tough days when the wins felt few and far between, and the hustle seemed relentless.
What got me through was learning to pause and reflect on the moments that mattered, the small victories, the clients who believed in me, the impact of the work I was doing.
That’s when I realised:
It’s not about chasing every opportunity but building something that lasts, something that works for me.
Redefining Success
I sat down and worked out exactly how much I needed, not just financially, but emotionally, physically, and mentally. This became my version of enough.
Here’s what it meant for me:
Time to nurture the relationships that matter most.
Space to look after myself, from long walks to quiet mornings.
Freedom to work on projects that genuinely light me up.
A sense of financial stability without sacrificing joy.
Anything beyond that is a bonus, but it’s no longer the driving force.
Rethinking Growth
We live in a world that celebrates busyness and burnout, but I’ve found that true growth comes when you create boundaries and focus on what truly adds value. For Rose Relations, this means:
Purpose-driven projects: I work with clients who align with my values and create work that makes a genuine impact.
Healthy boundaries: My evenings and weekends are sacred. Downtime fuels creativity.
A holistic approach: PR isn’t just about campaigns. It’s about helping brands build sustainable, meaningful connections.
This isn’t about doing less. It’s about doing what matters most.
Is Your Business Working for You?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, here’s what’s helped me reclaim my time and focus:
Get Clear on What Matters: What do you actually want your business to support? Define it and let it guide your choices.
Prioritise with Intention: Say no to anything that pulls you away from your core goals.
Protect Your Time: Set boundaries around work hours, rest, and self-care.
Success, Redefined
Success isn’t measured by how much you do or earn. For me, it’s about:
Working with clients I respect and admire
Building a business I’m proud of, without compromising my well-being
Waking up every day excited about the balance I’ve created
If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Let’s keep building businesses that truly serve the lives we want to live.
Here’s to making 2025 about meaningful growth, not just more.

In the recent past, I often threw myself at any opportunity that came my way. Nowadays, I only go after opportunities that are tailored to my trajectory and growth, and it's been so helpful.
I've come to learn that it's not about being productive(busy), it's about our work having an impact. 💯
Simone, your post hit home. I’ve walked that same path, saying yes to everything, pushing through, and eventually hitting burnout so hard my doctor had to tell me to stop. It was a wake-up call I’ll never forget.
That hard lesson reshaped everything for me. Today, I live with courage and clarity, focusing on building a life and business that align with who I aspire to be. It’s amazing what shifts when we choose sustainability over the hustle. Thank you for sharing your story—it’s a reminder of how powerful reflection and intentionality can be
